The City of North Augusta Municipal Court is part of the integrated judicial system of the State of South Carolina and serves as the City of North Augusta's judicial system. The court handles both misdemeanor traffic and criminal violations, as well as city ordinance and environmental code violations.

Our goals are to:

  • Treat all persons equally and fairly, in accordance with the laws and administrative authority given by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
  • Promote public trust and confidence in our court.
  • To be as efficient as possible through the use of technology and to continually enhance our operational practices based on benchmarks and industry best practices.

There are expectations for both attire and behavior while in the North Augusta Municipal Court. In striving toward both of these goals, we ask for your assistance by adhering to the following:

Attire:
All persons should wear clean, properly fitted clothing.  Shirts and shoes are required.  Unacceptable attire includes, but is not limited to:  tank tops, shorts, baggy pants, hats, clothing with offensive depictions, and flip-flops.  People wearing such items will be required to leave the courtroom.

Etiquette:
The following behavior is expected of anyone while present either in the courtroom or in the entrance area:

  • Arrive early and be prepared.
  • Turn off all cell phones before entering the courtroom. Noncompliance may result in the confiscation of your phone.
  • No gum or tobacco products are allowed.
  • When conversing with court staff, please refrain from using slang.
  • Do not approach the Judge’s bench or the Clerk of Court’s desk without permission.
  • When your case is called, go to the podium, speak only when instructed, and do not interrupt.
  • Address the Judge properly as “Your Honor."
  • Use of profanity is strictly forbidden at all times. We know court can be stressful, which is why we ask that you be considerate of those near you.

Prohibited Items:
Weapons, food, and drink are not allowed in the courtroom.
