Economic Development Award
The City of North Augusta has been recognized on the state level for the work it has done in Riverside Village, a live-work-play development along the Savannah River. North Augusta was named the winner of the 2019 Joseph P. Riley Award for Economic Development. The award is through the Municipal Association of South Carolina. The award recognizes innovation and achievement in economic development by a local government.
Riverside Village is home to SRP Park, the city-owned stadium housing the single-A minor league baseball team for the Atlanta Braves, the Augusta GreenJackets. Also in the development is a Crowne Plaza hotel, riverfront amphitheater, two apartment communities and multiple restaurants. Future development plans include office space, additional apartments and additional retail/restaurants.
