A Site Plan for the project must be submitted and must be approved by the Department of Planning and Development. Room Additions also require the Room Addition Information Sheet to be filled out and submitted to the Building Standards Department.
The installation of roof top mounted solar panels and or upgrades to structural roofing components, must be done by a South Carolina licensed residential contractor, SC licensed Specialty contractor with a roofer classification or SC licensed General contractor with a specialty roofing or general roofing classification. The connecting of the electrical components of solar systems must be done by a SC licensed builder, SC licensed residential electrical contractor or SC Licensed commercial Electrical contractor. Include a roof layout, racking design, line diagram with conductor sizing, location of associated equipment, electrical load calculations, and specification sheets for all equipment.
Signs require a zoning review to be completed by the Department of Planning and Development.All signs must comply with the Zoning Ordinance, the Standard Building Code, and the National Electrical Code. Inspection of signs is required.If a sign is illuminated an electrical permit is must be obtained.
Grading projects require the prior approval of the Department of Planning and Development and the Engineering Department.
Electrical, Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical Permits: All new installations and repair work require a permit. Minor repairs can be made to these systems without a permit as determined by the Building Official. All permits must be obtained prior to commencement of work to avoid penalty fees.
