The City of North Augusta has five boards and commissions comprised of community volunteers appointed by the City Council. The job of board and commission members is crucial to the success of North Augusta and its government. By sharing experience, expertise and time, these citizens provide valuable insight in the operations of the city. Boards and commissions review new and existing operations in specific areas and suggest appropriate courses of action to city management and the City Council.

Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is a five member quasi-judicial board that hears appeals from decisions of administrative officials and also appeals for variances from provisions of the North Augusta Development Code and for special exception uses as listed in the North Augusta Development Code Use Matrix. The BZA generally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. 

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is a seven member board that approves development proposals, including major site plans and major subdivision plans. The commission also authorizes planning studies and surveys to be conducted by department staff and acts as a recommending body for updates and modifications to the City's Comprehensive Plan, the North Augusta Development Code, the City's Official Zoning Map and proposed Planned Development General Development Plans. The Planning Commission generally meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
